Site Preparation

Check List for Site Development:

  • Home Page Design: What will you focus on with the entry page to your site?

  • Site Navigation: How will site visitors access the content throughout your site? Do you have this mapped out with clear primary links and sub-links? It may be a good idea to draw a 'tree outline' or 'story board' for your site. It is good to minimise the number of links on your home page, helping to draw the focus to your key interest areas. Less important pages can be indexed beneath your primary links. Primary links require appropriate wording to minimise navigation confusion.

  • Content Pages: What material are you going to present online? Do you have it ready? This information will be required by your web designer in Word Doc ® or similar.

  • Images and Design Styles: Do you have a preference here? What do you like elsewhere that you have seen? Do you already have images you can use or will you need to source elsewhere?

  • Site Advertising: You will need a 'site description' and 'keyword list' for inclusion with embedded code for the search engines. In order of prority list the key search terms and phrases that relate to your business.
